Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems – headquartered in Kiel, in Germany – has just signed the contract to acquire the Oceana shipyard (Itajaí/SC) from Aliança S.A., owned by the Grupo CBO, leader in offshore support vessels and one of the greater employers of qualified maritime professionals in the Brazilian market.
According to the initial base for the construction of frigates of Classe Tamandaré for the Brazilian Navy, as well as for a greater growth of the company in the country. The operation is subjected to the approval of authorities and the official entrance in force of the contract of the frigates - predicted to mid-2020. The acquisition will be, then, executed via the Brazilian subsidiary thyssenkrupp Marine Systems of Brazil. By agreement, the amount of the transaction will not be disclosed.

The Oceana shipyard was created in 2013 for the production of offshore support ships of high quality and technology and is ideal for projects of great dimension. In the next 2 years, 800 local workers will be recruited only for the Classe Tamandaré project. It means they may be constructed in Brazil ships of high added national value. The delivery of the ships is predicted for the period between 2025 and 2028.
Águas Azuis is a special purpose company established between thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (leader), Embraer Defesa & Segurança and Atech and will be responsible for the execution of the four frigates.
