This Thursday (3/5), in Rio de Janeiro, EMGEPRON, an independent state company linked to the Ministry of Defense via Command of the Brazilian Navy, and Águas Azuis, company formed by thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Embraer Defesa & Segurança and Atech, signed the contract for building four top-notch ships Classe Tamandaré, with delivery predicted between 2025 and 2028.
The construction will be carried out 100% in Brazil, in Itajaí (SC), with expectancy of local content taxes above 30% for the first ship and 40% for the other. Thyssenkrupp will provide naval technology of its well-known platform of defense ships construction of Class MEKO®, which already operates in 15 countries. Embraer will integrate sensors and weaponry to the combat system, incorporating to the Program its more than 50 years of experience in systems technologies solutions and in-service support.
Atech, a company from the Grupo Embraer specialized in engineering of systems for applications of Defense, will be provider of the CMS (Combat Management System) and the IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System, of L3 MAPPS) and receptor of technology transfer in cooperation with ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, subsidiary of the thyssenkrupp Marine Systems that produce the CMS and sonar systems.

Besides the construction, the contract includes a robust transfer of technology in naval engineering for the military naval ships and combat management systems and platform, as well as the logistic support integrated and the vessels life cycle management.
Programa Classe Tamandaré has the potential to generate direct and indirect jobs of high quality. It predicts a solid model of national partnership with the proved ability of transfer of technology and local labor qualification, which guarantees the development of future strategical projects of defense in Brazil.
The naval alliance between thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and Embraer Defesa & Segurança will also allow the creation of bases for products export of naval defense from Brazil.

The new multi-mission ships will be based on the proved solution of naval construction of Class MEKO® from thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, already used in 82 vessels in operation in Marines of 15 countries, among them Portugal, Greece, Australia, Argentina and Algeria.
